We have been serving the Manayunk community and nearby neighborhoods for nearly 17 years. And, during that time, many customers have become not only friends, but family.
Like everyone else, “restaurant life” as we knew it came to a halt on March 16th, 2020. It was five days after my Birthday, and I was planning to take my kitchen team out after a long service. Instead, I was faced with the excruciating reality that instead of lifting my team up, I’d have to let many of them down.
Chabaa’s dining room lights have been dark since that day.
Some staff members have filed for unemployment, and the kitchen chefs who remain are holding each other tight. We are anxious, but continue cooking each night. We hope to spread love through our food.
Sadly, third party delivery "partners" continue to charge painfully high commissions, even as restaurant owners beg for a break. Thankfully, some of our servers who live nearby have offered to help bring food out to cars, so we’re currently offering curbside pickup and direct ordering through our website.
Yes we are struggling, but YES, we will get through this together. The hardest part is I cannot provide my people with anything except a promise to do everything in my power to keep our business alive.
